Saw Palmetto and Hair Growth Possibilities

Some recent research studies have positively concluded, and were able to successfully show, that saw palmetto and hair growth are indirectly related. However, research is in its infant stages, and can not directly prove that saw palmetto actually affects the growth of hair. Scientific studies have only proved that it actually can help with hair loss by inhibiting testosterone's effects on hair loss. Although research studies revolving around saw palmetto and hair growth are limited, it still remains popular on the market today.

Most anytime you read about hair loss and hair growth, it seems you will read about saw palmetto with it. Saw palmetto and hair growth have become a popular concept when it comes to alternative medicine, and alternative medicine practitioners are backing claims of its efficacy. Saw palmetto and hair growth claims have a way of finding each other, as many people who have used it for hair growth have found it effective.

Even though research studies are limited, saw palmetto continues to gain popular use among many people. Perhaps these people prefer using the natural methods of regaining their hair, or maybe it is because saw palmetto methods are least costly. Either way, even alternative medicine practitioners are linking saw palmetto and hair growth.

Human nature makes us naturally believe that claims to prevent hair loss, or to regrow hair, are attractive claims. When a person is having issues with hair loss, they are normally on a search for anything that may assist with re-growth. People tend to be willing to try almost anything to help re-grow their hair, especially if they are convenient, and easy to purchase over the counter remedies.

As previously mentioned, the research regarding saw palmetto and hair growth are in their infant stages. While scientific studies have been conducted, they have most often been conducted in short term, meaning that its long-term side effects may not be yet known. It is true that most research studies having been conducted on saw palmetto and hair growth were done long enough to get a good review of the product. The long term effects that saw palmetto may have on our bodies has not been studied.

Reliability and safeness are factors that can be associated with any medication -- whether it is prescription medication, or whether it is alternative remedies. There have been many cases where different prescription medications have been pulled from the market due to reliability and safeness. These are medications that were studied and approved into the medical community.

Although some studies cannot prove for certain the long term effects of saw palmetto and hair growth, many people swear to its short term effectiveness. To be safe, you should check with your physician before using saw palmetto to treat your hair loss.
